Welcome to the world’s first institute dedicated to the foam business! Experts and rookies, owners and crews come here to learn the skills required to be successful in this industry! Our classes are small and personal with time to discuss your concerns while covering it all from application techniques and equipment maintenance to skills related to running a foam business. The Foam School is part of CPi, and therefore can tap into CPi’s resources in terms of equipment, technical expertise, and technical documentation. The instructors are all experts in the foam business. For maximum impact, different parts of the curriculum are taught by different people.
Students are usually most impressed by our spray room where they get to spray different foams with a latest generation Graco Reactor, fully suited and equipped with 3M safety equipment just as on the real job!
While most manufacturers offer some kind of specific training closely related to their product lines, we offer more. Knowing about spray equipment or how to foam is important, but not enough to succeed. Marketing, selling and job costing skills are just as vital. We even cover the basic principles of foam chemistry, and provide you with an overview of the major types of materials across the spectrum.
It's not that you wouldn’t be able to figure these things out on your own -- you could, but we'll cut short months of costly trial and error, especially for beginners in our industry.
The main difference between 0.5 lb and 2.0 lb. foam is the celluar structure of the material? 0.5 lb foam is a 'open' cell structure foam whereas 2.0 lb. is a 'closed' cell foam.
Many homeowners are very concerned about mold – rightly so! Mold may make people sick and diminish property value. Mold is caused by leaks and condensation. There are fairly simple methods to manage the mold risk provided the home is insulated with foam. In our seminar we explain to you in great detail how condensation occurs with conventional insulation and what is different when foam is installed. Learn how to offer a solid explanation to the home owner how this works. As matter of fact, we’ll even give you a professional presentation for your laptop to impress your customers.
Well, we’ve got double good news: first of all, the price for foam insulation generally is a lot higher than conventional insulation with corresponding profits for the contractor! Secondly, with our training session you will be more confident to ask for the premium price that you deserve for the supreme value which you bring to your customers. In our seminars we explain the basic principles of selling foam insulation. More Info
We cover:
Find out why foam offers a lot more than thermal performance
Learn how to sell extra benefits such as sound proofing, mold prevention and air tightening
Understand the health benefits of foam compared with fiberglass
Understand how to discuss thermal performance of foam outside the context of R-value
Learn to convince the customer to look at the foam as a long- term investment rather than expenditure
Find out how to cost foams of different densities and R-values
Discover the skills to be the an insulation expert for your customer to rely on
Along the way, meet other friendly people who are getting into the business and exchange ideas!
There are three ways to heat or cool: convection, conduction, and radiation. When you join the Foam School, you’ll learn about why foam performs so much better than fiberglass. It’s the airtightness or zero convection of foam. Is R-value important: no, it is not, it is the ACH factor (air changes per hour). Study these and all other performance factors for insulation in a tightly packed session. After a couple of hours with us, you’ll be ready to have a technical conversation with architects, builders, HVAC contractors and owners why foam is the answer to true energy savings and more comfort while doing our part to save the planet.
